Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

YJHD is an entertaining movie that keeps audiences enthralled for two-and-a-half hours, boasting wonderful music, outstanding acting and stunning visuals. Ranbir and Deepika share sizzling chemistry; Madhuri Dixit shines in her song Ghagra.

This story follows an old-fashioned love tale where opposites attract. Medical student Naina Talwar (Deepika Padukone) meets free-spirited Bunny Kabir Thapar (Ranbir Kapoor) on a trekking trip and falls for him despite coming from different worlds – until Kabir leaves for India and their lives take an abrupt and drastic turn for the worse.

Director Ayan Mukerji steps away from his coming-of-age classic Wake Up Sid with this romantic drama. While initially successful, it begins to falter around midway and loses steam after that; its script can be overly simplistic yet charming in parts. Cinematography is breathtaking while editing could have been more accurate; Farooq Sheikh, Kunal Roy Kapur, Kalki Koechlin and Evelyn Sharma lead an ensemble cast that provides excellent support.

Taare Zameen Par

Aamir Khan’s directorial debut is an intelligent depiction of dyslexia and the educational system, often drawing praise for its strong morals which emphasize the need to refrain from stigmatizing children who do not possess academic or athletic talent but instead encourage them to explore their interests independently.

Ishan Awasthi, an eight-year-old boy diagnosed as dyslexic by his parents, attends a boarding school where Ram Shankar Nikumbh notices Ishan’s talent for drawing.

This film explores how developmental delays in one hemisphere may “disinhibit” or activate nondominant parietal lobe, unleashing artistic talents within certain individuals and fostering personal development. Furthermore, this movie showcases how imagination helps overcome challenges and foster personal growth – making this an engaging movie experience suitable for kids as well as adults alike! It has received critical acclaim for both its screenplay and acting talent.

Soni

Writer-director Ivan Ayr created Soni with the intent of raising awareness about sexual violence against women in India. To do so, he focused on Delhi police officer Soni (Geetika Vidya Ohlyan) and her colleague Kalpana (Saloni Batra) whose professional and personal lives intersect on a regular basis.

Soni plays part in a special unit dedicated to tracking down men who harass and assault women on the streets of India’s capital city, New Delhi. Her temperamental nature often gets her into trouble – as evidenced by the scene where she slaps a drunk naval officer who refuses to get out of his car!

Soni boasts not only an outstanding performance by its lead actress but also boasts an engaging script and impressive direction. A slow-burning drama, it grips you from its opening scene until its conclusion; making this an absolute must-watch film!

Gangs of Godavari

Gangs of Godavari is an impressive mass action film directed by Krishna Chaitanya that manages to surprise viewers through its engaging performances and flawless screenplay. Vishwak Sen stars as Rathna who rises from petty theft to become Dorasami’s right-hand man before eventually getting himself involved in local politics and getting himself in trouble as an MLA candidate himself. However, his involvement gets him into trouble in more ways than one.

Vishwak gives an outstanding performance as Rathnamala; Anjali stands out as Rathnamala herself while Neha Shetty makes her presence felt as Bujji.

This film boasts excellent production values, featuring outstanding cinematography and Yuvan Shankar Raja’s impressive score. However, editing can sometimes be rushed at times; character characterization may also be inconsistent and there’s too much resemblance with recent hits such as Pushpa in terms of themes and styles; its storyline also is too predictable.

Masaan

No matter your mood, this list has something that will satisfy. From John Abraham’s outstanding performance in Con Movie (featuring an FBI-esque con) to Kalki Koechlin starrer Kalki Koechlin’s films; you will surely love watching all these Bollywood flicks on Netflix!

Masaan is an engaging tale about love, loss and life in Varanasi with an outstanding cast including Richa Chadha, Vicky Kaushal and Shweta Tripathi. The movie delves deep into modern India’s complex values.

Neeraj Ghaywan’s debut feature film is an interweaved tale of lost love, police corruption and crumbling moral foundations set against Benares’ ghats and ghettoes akin to Paul Haggis films such as his landmark 2001 “Hugo.” Richa Chadha stars as Devi Pathak whose daily ritual consists of burning bodies and collecting their ashes before repeating the cycle again and again.
